Clambakes, great no matter where you live! Just because I moved to Denver from Northern Ohio, I couldn't give up a good clambake. Born and raised in the "Cleveland" area, we always had a great September Clambake. After living in the Denver, Colorado area for about 5 years and craving the good ole clambakes of back east, my sister and I decided to try it out. We have been putting up a clambake for the last 15 Septembers. And let me tell you, we have really gained a lot of friends every Labor Day weekend. This year it will be the last Sunday of September. One thing you should always remember about clams is they are best in months that have an "R" in them. This year we are having a relatively small bake. Only about 25 doz clams. But it will be another aroma fest for the neighborhood. We set up our steamers in the backyard. We start early in the morning and let the boulion just get stronger and more aromatic throughout the day. We do collect money from each person that is in the clambake. And I've never had a complaint. It's just too expensive to foot the bill myself. Darn, I'm getting hungry. Do yourself a favor, try a clambake yourself.
